Parabens are the most commonly used preservatives in the cosmetics industry because they prevent mold, fungus and parasites from sprouting and growing in your products. The problem is that parabens can be absorbed through the skin and have often been found in breast cancer tumors. Here are some parabens you might see on your ingredient list:

  • methylparaben (most common)

  • isobutylparaben
