When I have gone to look for a good neck serum, I’ve found they are expensive. One time, I found one for $200 and it was 15ml. $200 for a neck serum? No. Not doing that for a tiny bottle.
But since your neck is part of your face, you don’t want to leave
it out! Thankfully, there are other natural ways to help your skin, ways that cost less and are more effective. I decided to use doTERRA’s Immortelle Hydrating Serum for my neck.
It has the essential oils for skin and regeneration with plant technology to promote optimal lipid balance for smoother, more youthful looking skin.
Harnessing a natural, yet scientific approach to skin hydration, the lipid complex goes above and beyond a typical moisturizing serum by mimicking the skin’s surface lipids when at its peak of optimum health and youth. It combines the lipids of olive, jojoba, and macadamia oils to produce amazingly soft and smooth skin.
Plus, it costs a lot less, and a tiny bit goes a long way. Amazing! I love it and would not go without it. A lot of companies are already making amazing non-toxic products, and I do not like to reinvent the wheel. We have to pick and choose how to spend our time, right?
You can also opt for the Emerald Facial Oil that you can use on your neck and face! “2 birds with one stone” I think they say for that.
Why Your Neck Needs a Serum Too
The skin on your neck is thinner than the skin on your face and has fewer oil glands, so it dries out faster and tends to show lines sooner. Most of us take great care of our faces and then stop right at the jawline! A good neck serum gives that delicate skin the moisture and nourishment it is missing.
How to Apply Neck Serum
- Start with clean skin. Use it morning and night after you wash your face.
- Use a small amount. One or two pumps is plenty for your neck and chest.
- Sweep upward. Gently smooth it on from your collarbone up to your jaw, never pulling down on the skin.
- Do not forget your chest. The skin on your chest ages right along with your neck.
- Protect it. During the day, follow with a natural sunscreen, since sun is one of the biggest causes of aging on the neck.
Want to Make Your Own? A Simple DIY Neck Serum
If you love to make things yourself, here is an easy neck serum you can mix up at home in a small glass dropper bottle:
- 1 oz (2 tablespoons) jojoba oil, which is very close to the natural oils in our skin
- 3 drops frankincense essential oil
- 3 drops lavender essential oil
- 2 drops helichrysum essential oil (optional)
Shake it well and use a few drops morning and night, following the steps above. Always do a small patch test first, and keep it away from your eyes. Store it in a dark glass bottle out of the sun so the oils stay fresh.
Whether you make your own or grab one that is ready to go, giving your neck a little love every day makes a big difference over time.
