Potassium Broth: 1 Easy Nourishing Recipe to Keep You Strong on a Cleanse

This potassium broth is amazing and will save you during a cleanse. If you have never cleansed before and this is your first time it will get easier and easier, I promise. Cleansing and fasting is what we need to incorporate and do for the rest of our life to maintain health!

For beginners with cleansing, I recommend instead of just doing liquids- eat fresh fruits, salads and lots of veggies along with juicing. Your body has to adjust and get used to cleansing. Note that: the type of food you eat on a cleanse also depends on the cleanse you are doing- so read through your protocol. You do not have to change your diet, but you will not get the results you want if you do not. You can see the Classes and Tutorials page for free videos, printable/downloadable protocols for all the different types of cleanses.

Why Potassium Broth Helps During a Cleanse

This potassium broth gives your body a powerful nutrient punch so you are less likely to feel faint, weak or nauseous. I know doing a long liquid cleanse my body will need this so I just make up a batch and keep it in the fridge. I like it warm and have not tasted it cold but you could totally drink it over ice like a V8.

I warm up a cup at a time in a pot and THEN do not skip this part because it makes it so yummy. Add a bit of salt to your liking. Make sure you use the real salt brand and not table iodized salt. If you would like to read more on that see this post Iodized Salt.

Oh man, it tastes SO good on a cleanse. It is exactly what you need to keep you going and hold you over. And isn’t it so pretty?! I am constantly amazed at the beauty of colors in this world. Have this made on the first day so that you have it if you are starting to feel faint.

How to Make Potassium Broth

Fill a large pot with organic vegetables, using about equal parts of each:

  • Potato peelings
  • Carrot peelings
  • 3 whole chopped beets
  • Chopped onions
  • Celery and dark greens (I used spinach)
  • 50 cloves of garlic, minimum
  • Hot peppers to taste (You can skip this)
  • Enough distilled water to cover vegetables.

Simmer on very low temperature for 2 hours or more. Then strain the broth and drink away. Store in the fridge and it will keep for a week. Salt to taste.

You will feel better, lighter and take back your health with cleansing and fasting. Hope this helps you on your journey!

Tips for the Best Potassium Broth

Use organic produce whenever you can, since the peels are where so many of the nutrients are, and you want to skip the pesticides. Scrub everything well before you peel it. Save your peelings in a bag in the freezer during the week, and when it is full, you have everything you need for a batch. Sip a warm mug of potassium broth whenever you feel low on energy, and make a fresh batch every week while you cleanse. Pair it with a fresh cold pressed juice for even more nutrients.

A Few Safety Notes

This broth is very high in potassium. If you have kidney disease, heart problems, or take medications like blood pressure pills or diuretics that affect potassium, talk to your doctor before drinking it or starting any cleanse. The same goes if you are pregnant, nursing or diabetic. And if you ever feel dizzy or faint during a cleanse, stop, rest and eat something. You can learn more about potassium from the NIH.
