This is a continuation of the post You Can Not Escape Your Darkness. We left off with only being who and what you are, or you can not accomplish what you are meant to do. This post explains what to do after your “idol” has died.
How do you Love and Accept yourself?
You have to break down that idol you have built and face your own darkness. Like we talked about, you have to be vulnerable and face it. Part of you will die and it is painful. It takes courage to face your darkness. But once you are though it and face yourself, you will find a freedom and Pure Love.
Make a list of all the things you hate about yourself, all of the things you have tried to change, hide, cut out and ignore. You start by going through this list, one by one, and start to love yourself anyway. See yourself through a different light, that the darkness is there for a reason. Work through each of the things you hate about yourself until something shifts, and then move to the next. Start coming to terms with each one, study them, ponder, and see it as a lesson to learn something. Then start helping those with the same thing. See yourself as God sees you, you are perfect the way you are. It is actually about seeing yourself in the spirit and no the flesh. Your spirit is perfect, the darkness has been changed to light and only the lessons and experiences remain.
Becoming One with Yourself
Accepting all of yourself for who and what you precisely are, actually has a bigger purpose. The goal of becoming one with yourself, is to then be able to become one with others. Once your Yin and Yang are balanced and you have become one with yourself, you are then able to become one with another.
Can a person come into unity with another if he is in constant war inside of himself? He simply can not. Can that “idol” you have built of yourself become with anyone? I would think not. This is the goal of being your true and authentic self.
If you want to become one with your spouse, you must be one within yourself. If you want to receive the Second Comforter and become one with Jesus, you must be one with yourself. Can Jesus appear to the “idol” you built of yourself? Since Jesus and the Father are one, for He said “I and my Father are one.” How then can you expect to be one with Jesus and the Father? Both Jesus and the Father want to be one with us. This is why this “idol” part of you must die. Be only who and what you are meant to be. You can not love and be one with others fully if you hate your own flesh.
The Gift of Charity
Having Charity for others is like having compassion. Charity is a Pure Love. It is different from liking someone, or loving someone, having sympathy, or even compassion for another. Charity is the next level up, because it comes from a higher power beyond yourself and not from you. Receiving the gift of Charity is the greatest gift to receive, it is completely selfless and it never fails because it comes from an unfailing Source. If you were to have everything and had not Pure Love, it would all be for naught, and we would be nothing.
Receiving this gift is one thing, but it does not come with a manual of how to apply it. The first person this gift should be applied to, is yourself. I wish I had known this a long time ago. It is applied like this: when you fly and they tell you if the oxygen mask drops down, you should put on your mask first and then help those around you. It is like explained above, if you want to love other and love God and be one you must apply that love and work on yourself first. Let me explain further:
The 2 Greatest Commandments
Just like in the movies it really is all about true love. Everything hangs, functions and is created with Pure Love.
- The first and great commandment explained in Matthew 22 is: Love the Lord thy God with all they heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
- The second is like unto it: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
If you want to fully apply the gift of Charity in your life, to others and to God, you must start with yourself. It is after all part of the two greatest commandments. How can you fully love your neighbor, if you do not love yourself? What about your husband or wife, how can you fully give love to them? How can you fully love God, if you are in a space of hating yourself? “For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it”
You simply can not apply Charity to those around you and function in it, if you hate yourself. 1 john 4:20 “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
On the other hand to think about as well… how can you expect this kind of Pure Love from others if you can not give it to yourself at all?
It is a Journey
If a child can have a pure love for you in spite of everything, why cant you love yourself in spite of it all? As you are open with them to others and display to the world only your true and authentic self. This is where those dark things about you will become strengths.
You will then be able to be a strength and help others with the same problems you have. You will find strength in unity and find support because they know your darkness and you know theirs. We will then all be able to help each other and stop judging.
Self love does not mean that you are selfish.
Selfish love does come from feeding that ego idol you have built and trying to love others though that ego. It is then a low and selfish love, rooted in lust, and self centered. The self love I am talking about is finding and accepting your true self and loving your self in spite of it. Not being who others or groups or family want you to be, but simply who you were made to be.
“Self belief and self love are not conceited. They are needed.”
It is simply stepping into a space where you free yourself to be who and what you are, and to love yourself for it. To love the WHOLE you. Then life opens up to the freedom you have given it and you will fulfill your purpose and missions here in this space of time. You will walk through your darkness and find in the center what you have always been seeking.
