This is the sugar scrub that I like to make. Sugar scrubs are so simple, by making them yourself you know what is in them and then know that there are no toxins! I only use olive and coconut oil and then only essential oils (not fragrances) for scent. I do not like the inch of oil on the top where you have to stir the scrub before you use it. So this one you stir when you make it, and then you do not have to ever stir again!
I use an organic sugar, but you can use brown sugar or regular white sugar. I use sugar scrub for my lips and body. It is great all over exfoliator and the coconut oil is amazing for your skin. Find yourself a cute jar and keep refilling it up, and save yourself some money.
Here is an easy sugar scrub recipe:
- 1 cup of the Sugar of your choice
- 1/4 cup Organic Coconut Oil (not fractionated. Use the one that is hard at room temperature)
- 1 tsp Organic Olive Oil
- 20 drops of Essential Oil of your choice
First you need have your jar ready, and put your 1 cup of sugar in a bowl so you have room to stir freely. In a separate glass bowl melt your coconut oil over a pot of warm water. Then stir in the olive oil and essential oils. Pour the oil over the sugar and give it a good stir. You can then transfer the mixture to your jar and label. The sugar mixture should have this type of consistency:
Adding the tiny bit of olive oil will help the coconut oil from hardening when it gets cold. This is an easy project and cheap gifts to make and give away. The oils I like to use are: Tangerine and Lavender, Grapefruit and Douglas fir, Eucalyptus and Spearmint, or Myrrh and Frankincense. Do whatever oil you love the most and do not be scared to mix and match!
