I believe that cravings are our body talking to us about what it needs at that time. This is different than “addiction” talking. Meaning I am not saying, if you are addicted to something and you keep wanting it, it must be good for you. That is different than craving something and that craving usually accompanied with the sentence “I feel like….” We should follow these intuitive talking from our body. Did you know that there are certain food that are better or worse for your specific blood type? This fascinated me when I found it because my diet had changed by itself and I felt better but did not know why it felt better until I read this article and found that my appetite had changed for what was better for me to eat.

Blood types are very fascinating

Even though I faint at the site of blood and needles I love learning about the blood and DNA. To see the blood and what it is doing on a cellular level can tell you a lot about your health thus far. Did you know that they have also connected certain personalty traits to each blood type? Super fun, different post though. Learning how to eat for your blood type can help your health and overall feeling of well being.

This article is found over at DrLam. There are different charts made up for each blood type and I will link them here for you.

Blood Type A

Those with Type A blood often have greater difficulty digesting meat. When meat makes up a large part of the diet the body is put under more significant stress. To avoid this, a vegetarian diet can be greatly beneficial if you have Type A blood.

However, a proper vegetarian diet with the optimal spread of nutrients, minerals, and proteins can be tricky. Knowing which foods to avoid and which are the most beneficial is key to getting started on a diet most suited to your physiology. The chart below outlines many key foods that are most beneficial, some that are reasonably well tolerated, and those that should be completely avoided.

Blood Type B

Those with Type B blood often have a hearty constitution and have an advantage fighting against some common debilitating conditions such as heart disease or cancer. On the other hand, they tend to have greater susceptibility to immune system disorders.

In order to care for this kind of physiology, the body needs a comprehensive and balanced nutrition that nourishes all of the body’s systems and promotes a healthy homeostasis. An optimal diet to achieve this will contain both animal and plant-based foods, but some specific foods should not be consumed, such as chicken or peanuts. To figure out which foods to include in your diet refer to the chart below.

Blood Type AB

Those with Type AB blood have a unique physiology that inherits characteristics of both Type A blood and Type B blood physiologies. This means they face some particular challenges in taking proper care of their bodies and eating right. While those with Type A blood generally do better without meat, and those with Type B blood are encouraged to include meat in their diet, those with Type AB blood are caught somewhere in between.

If you have Type AB blood, one of the guiding principles of your diet should be moderation. Meat is necessary but your digestion will not be able to handle too much. Many grains provide needed energy and nutrients but consuming too much will imbalance your body’s pH. It is also important to stay away from foods that are incompatible or harmful to the Type AB blood physiology. Below is a chart that will help you make the right choices for a proper Type AB blood type diet.

Blood Type O

Type O blood often signifies a physiology which is uniquely suited to processing animal proteins. As a result of this efficiency, the optimal diet for those with Type O blood features a lot of meat, poultry, and seafood. These high-quality proteins are efficiently processed and converted into nutrition for the body to provide energy and ensure the healthy function of the body’s many different systems. On the other hand, gluten in many grain products, can antagonize the body and throw a wrench in its works, creating stress on the body and creating imbalances.

Following the correct blood type diet for Type O blood helps ensure the body’s equilibrium and functioning are maintained. Find out which foods are best for the Type O blood type diet and which to avoid using the chart below.

  • Best on High Protein Diet
  • Thrive on intense physical exercise and animal proteins
  • Do not do well with dairy and grain products
  • Hardy digestive tract
  • The leading factor in weight gain for Type Os is the gluten found in wheat germ and whole wheat products.
  • Type O have a tendency to have low levels of thyroid hormone and unstable thyroid functions, which cause metabolic problems and weight gain.
